at present we live in a semi private estate why not make it a completely private estate by looking for planning permission to erect security gates at the front of the estate. i know it sounds a bit far fetched but there are plenty of estate doing this why can't we.
It would require a complete re-modelling of the estate front to set the gates well back from the public road. Not sure if gates would work considering the volume of traffic leaving and entering the estate.
The other point is the entrance/ exit from the estate at the back. If we won our point to remove the possibility of a through road, then why not?
But, at the moment, the LAP3 is ambiguous - at some places it assumes a road connection, at other places it just mentions pedestrian and cycling access. Settling the type of access goes to the heart of much of the residents' objections.
Yes, Security Gates would be a great idea. The annual grass-cutting/Maintenance costs are very low so I'm sure most people would be more than happy to chip in extra. They could be errected just before the 1st T-Junction. The houses at the front of the gates would also benefit from less unauthorised traffic.
